Im trying to add another harddrive to my machine, but WindowsXP will not recognize it when I have it as a slave, although my BIOS does recognize it. Windows doesn't see it in Device Manager, or Disk Management.
Master: maxtor 200GB ata133
Slave: seagate 80GB ata133
IC7-G with latest bios
Hard-drives are both set to cable select, on a new ata133 IDE cable. Abit labled the cable master/slave so I know i have the drives plugged in correctly
I wiped and re-zeroed the seagate with autoclave, but still nothing. I then hooked it up in my external HD enclosure, and windows saw it right away, and I formatted it (ntfs) from disk management while it was in the external, but when I put it back internal, as slave, windows can't see it.
I don't know what else to do, ive tried setting manually "LBA mode" for the seagate, and I've done auto-detects for both drives in bios. Am I doing something wrong, or not doing something i should? Please assist, thank you
*EDIT*
Also, just as a side note, for anyone looking at Maxtor drives, I would say, don't get it. Mine is much louder than both my WD120 caviar and the 80gb seagate, and the maxtor runs much much hotter, its extreamly hot to the touch shortly after turning on.
