Greetings from the the Outer Banks! I'm following in Moosie's footsteps and roughin' it out on the beach. I had to help the Time Warner guy install Road Runner in the rental house, so I've been unable to get my two laptops folding all week...and worse, I haven't been able to babysit the office computers for two weekends (including tomorrow and sunday), so my output will continue to be reduced for a few more days. Oh well, at least the weather's been great here and I see that you guys are behaving while I'm gone. ;) See you guys next week when I'll be back at full strength. Fold on!
 
and here I thought the Moose was following MY footsteps... his hoof-prints must have just obliterated my footsteps ;)

I loved OBX.

Matt, that house looks awesome! Where is it? I am so jealous, yours has a theater room!!!!
 
The house is in Emerald Isle and it's pretty friggin' cool. We've been going here every year for the last 10 or 12 years or so and have upgraded houses every year - but I don't know where to go from here. One of the advantages of going in the off season is that you can afford stuff that would otherwise be ridiculously expensive. Without the off season we'd never have a 5000 square foot ocean front house with four floors, seven bedrooms, two HD TV's, a pool, hot tub, pool table and an elevator. There's a lot of stuff to do in and around the house, so while we're usually burned out on the beach by Friday (when we usually head over to the Camp Lejeune MCX and buy some USMC shirts and stuff), this year I'm not ready to go home yet. :(

I am never ready to leave vacation....

Your reason for going offseason is the same as mine. An awesome house for a very affordable price.

How long of a drive is OBX from Ohio?
 
The drive ends up being about 10 1/2 hours, but that may not be the fastest way to go since my parents live in NC and the whole family meets up there before we head out to the beach - it's really a 6 1/2 and then a 4 hour drive that way.

This is the first year in a long time that I'm not ready to leave vacation. If I was going back to work at a good place, I'd be content going back now. I like what I do, but the way the office works is just plain messed up. Good bye beach, tomorrow afternoon begins the journey home...

Vacation was a blast - rode my bike every day, goofed around in the pool and the ocean, watched some movies, waved to the Marines in CH-53's 200 feet over the beach - it was good times!

Actually, I don't know who got the Outer Banks idea first since I've been doing this for years. I was just trying to tie it in chronologically with [H]ardforum time. After further investigation, your footprints were inside of the atomichoofprints, so I didn't notice them right away. :D
 
I just realized that this is the same location that I was just thinking of visiting with the girlfriend... allthough just a quick weekend trip to a hotel, no big fancy house.. :p
