My Impact has been rock solid and the daughterboards haven't given me any issue yet. Using Wifi and M.2 everyday.
I went with Asus for Z87, Asrock for Z97, and I was thinking of going Asrock again for Z170 since it looks very similar to there previous offerings (Z87 & Z97). Only thing that is making me wait it out is that Skylake removed the FIVR this round so the VRMs on the motherboard might play a bigger role in OC abilities. Any ideas?
I wonder the GIGABYTE Z170N-Gaming 5's audio is like, or if it has an M.2 port... Looks solid.
It looks like it's got an M.2 port on the bottom possibly and has Thunderbolt 3 support via Alpine Ridge (the USB-type C port)
I really like ITX from from Gigabyte. Z170N hits all the key points. 1150 audio, intel NIC (x2), 4x PCIE3 m.2, only thing that might be a weak point is that specs have no mention of USB3.1
I'm sure that it won't have Alpine Ridge controler but Asmedia ASM1142 would have been nice
The impact doesn't seem to be that far off, could be worth waiting for,

Asrock has two Z97 ITX boards, this is the other one: http://www.anandtech.com/Gallery/Album/4502#11
The "gaming" board has Ultra M.2 in the back. Ultra M.2 is Asrock's branding for PCIe 3.0 x4. The non-gaming board has mSATA.
I think the Z170N Gaming 5 actually does have the Alpine Ridge controller. The Z170N-wifi does not.

After downloading the wifi/bluetooth drivers, it can be concluded that they use a broadcom wifi/bluetooth module, not intel
I just checked the manual for the AsRock Z170M-ITX/ac - it only has a single combined mPCIe/mSATA slot in the front.
Different board.
No they have done this before:This is the first time AsRock has launched two ITX boards for the same Z chipset.
i didn't expect mITX boards to come out so long after the CPU was release. What are these companies waiting for?
I like Gigabyte and ASRock so I'm likely to go with them again. I want usb 3.1, 4x PCIE3 m.2, 1150 audio and solid NIC and wireless.
Anyone that can deliver this will get a lot of sales.
Lol yep completely agree with you about the M.2 & the 951
Just waiting on the motherboards... unfortunately there seems to be no news hmm, so we are still waiting. Watch out for the Evga it's M.2 E? only for wifi , nice looking board but at a price.
