Hey all,

hoping I could ask a question or two here.

I recently decided to get an X79 chipset mobo and realize that I would need a graphics card sooner than later as a result.

Originally I was gonna get an EVGA 670 FTW because of the cooler style and performance.

I realized that there's some decent single-slot cards around...

XFX 7750 Core 1GB
EVGA GT640 2GB
Supposedly Galaxy is making a single-slot GTX 670

I guess my main question is how any of these would compare to a dual-slot card like the EVGA 670 FTW? The galaxy 670 is a shoe-in for this but it might melt during load peaks.

Does it make sense to get a pair of single cards running at 16x/16x on an X79 board?

2nd edit:// Just realized that none of these cards support SLI/XFire... *sigh*

they don't even remotely compare to the 670. just get the 670 you were looking at. unless you are running nvidia surround or 2560x1600 a single 670 should be fine.. if its not then buy a second one later on down the road.

Okay, seems like it makes sense.

It was a hare-brained scheme where I thought something sounded awesome and didn't check something basic like "do they have an sli bridge?" derp.

I probably will get the 670 FTW, thanks for setting me straight.
