Right now I am deciding on what type of ram to buy for my Asus A8N SLI motherboard, though i dont have too much money on me. To get to the point, I am wondering if I will see a major difference in performance loss between a single channel or dual channel of 1 gig ram?

Always go dual channel. You are short changing your performance by doing anything else. I am not sure how much difference it makes, but I know it is at least 10% if not more.

try like around 5-10% in most cases.. some less though. synthetic benches are the only ones that'll show a profound difference

you can always just get a good, single 1gb stick, and then add a second identical one when you get the money.

Right but if he gets 2x512mb sticks now, if he wants to go to 2 gigs in the future he will have to run 4x512, which isn't as ideal as 2x1gb, especially if you're overclocking.

Thanks for the reply and I have decided to go with one stick of 1 gig. Could you also recommend me a stick of ram that would OC well with a Venice 3200 and a ASUS A8N SLI motherboard. I heard Gskill was good, any specific model?
