Single Device 24" Rounded IDE cable?

The title pretty much says it all, does anyone have a clue where I can find them at? The longest i can find them in is 18".

Though I guess like ethernet and RS232 you often have decently good margin outside those limits. But that is why they are probably not readily available for you to find.

Thats where I am currently looking. Anyway 24" is used in double device applications (master and slave) but I just need master).
 
Wrap the first connector in a sleeve of some sort so you can't see it then use the other at the far end.


You could also just take the plastic connector off the first one.
 
I'd do that. Get a regualar rounded 2 device cable, and pry off the middle connector.
 
You could always get a 36" ide rounded cable, like this one , and cut the 2nd connector off right after the first one. Not sure how well it would work, but 36" cables are generally 24" to first connector, and 12" to second (believe me, I know.....my first computer build, I used a full tower case, and a typical 36" cable just wasn't going to reach both optical drives......I finally found someone that made them in 28"-8" spacing). :)

Thats exactly what I am looknig for. The ONLY problem is that some cable manufacturers plug that middle hole on the cable so that they can only be plugged in 1 way. For my application I absolutely need that middle hole.

PS. I got brave and sliced up the cable that was in there and put sleeving on it. Came out pretty damn good (Only slightly messed up one of the wires). I still would like to go with the idea that Niram had though.

SarverSystems, I know you deal with this stuff ,have you ever seen any 36" rounded cables before, where I can cut the second connector off and still have 24", and the middle hole on the IDE connector is not plugged?

After doing some research I have found that 36" Cables ARE 24" With that second plug cutoff. HOWEVER theres still the issue of that plugged hole.

So far I have found that the following block their hole off, so they wont work. Ill add more here as I find more out:

UPDATE: Allright I ordered some 36 inchers (if you cut the second connector off that makes 24")

It looks like the 2 companies NewEgg carries are Coolmax and Orion Pro cables (they have all 40 pin holes avalible for use).

I ordered them just now and they should be here Monday.
