Single Card in PCIE Slot 2?

I have a P6t Deluxe, a new HT Omega Striker and an 8800 gts with a dual slow cooler.

The video card's cooler kills the first PCI slot. The Sound card fits into the second slot, but is uncomfortably close to the video card. Having only one video card, is there any reason why i cant put it in the motherboard's second PCIE slot?

none at all. even if the slot only operates at 8x electrically (which I don't think yours does) that card still will not saturate that bandwidth.

I can confirm that it worked! When I rebooted, my mobo informed me: "Chassis Intruded!" Not sure what that was about, but it booted up normally after a reset. Once I got to windows, windows had to reinstall some drivers for the card, and the resolution was at 800 x 600. Rebooted after that finished and all is well so far.

Ya... except that its not, and i also dont have any sensor hooked up to the case! The computer has become self aware.
