single 580 + dedicated ppu

got me a single 580, bored and really digging arkham asylum, just wondering if its worth it to pick up a dedicated ppu. if so, which one?

The 250 seems to be the sweet spot.

It might depend on your resolution. I saw a report on Techreport.com that showed near-zero gains using a dedicated Physx card at 25x16 resolution - 2 FPS. I don't know what exactly the test was but I'm surprised it didn't get more attention.

seems to handle arkham pretty well, i havent tried mafia yet though, plus im sure more games are coming a year or so down the road.

like i said, at this point im pretty much just bored looking for another upgrade that wont cause a power supply purchase =p

I thought that Nvidia intended for its PhysX to be a workable feature on one card, so if its flagship GPU can't do it by itself then that sucks.

Physx has never been intended to run on anything but a dedicated card. That said, it will work somewhat well on the most recent cards in single-card mode. It's just a generally shitty technology that's been deliberately gimped for proprietary reasons.
