Single 120 rad for a e6600?

Will a single 120 rad be sufficient enough to cool a 6600??
 
It probably is if the CPU the only thing in that loop, but it really depends on your room temps, what rad, what block and how much do you wanna overclock.
 
dd tdx block..Probably aruodn 75 degrees in my room now but summer will only make it rise..I would like to run at 3.6-4.0 stable. a single 120 would be so much easier to mount considering I already have a 240 internally mounted for my gtx. Oh, and yes it will be in its own loop only for the cpu.

Ain't no way a single 120 is going to cool your CPU when you start pushing it that far..........:eek: It may hold out up to 3.2 or so, but not much more.
 
It also depends on how good an overclocker your particular E6600 is, but with those low room temps you can probably hit around 3.4GHz stable. Hell, with my hot room temps (~89F or 32C) I have an E6600 at 3.2GHz Orthos stable on air in my other rig.

The E6600 in the rig in my sig runs at 3.5GHz 24/7 stable, but it is watercooled with a heatercore. Ain't no way I could do it without high end watercooling since my room temps are so high.
 
Thermochill PA120.1 and a nice fan will do it easy, I would run a Dtek Fuzion block and get a DDC-2 with petras top on 7/16" tubing.

I had a PA120.1 cooling an OC'd 4200+ and a 7800GT that was OC'd
 
A BIP single radiator (or something like it) with 2 fans at 12v will cool up to 150w without any trouble...

This is what you'd be looking at, as a conroe running around 3.6ghz dumps 130w easily.

yeah, alot of it is dependant on ambient temp, but I'm betting youd be fine with a single rad.
 
So i'm getting yes's and no's..Hm. Well I just ordered another 240 and a radbox to see if I can mount it off the back. I was hoping to stay all internal..but i'd like to see it at 4ghz.
 
A 120mm will be fine for one CPU, especially a Core 2.

A good rule of thumb is that for every 120mm of radiator surface area you get roughly 150W of heat dissipation. Now the radiator can dissipate more, but you will get higher temps, or it can dissipate less and get better temps. However, 150W is a good figure for getting middle of the road temps. Considering your processor starts off around 65W I would say you are fine with a single radiator.

Seriously, look at the various online overclocking databases and see how many E6600's are hitting that speed on water.
 
I'd get a double or triple rad... the rad is probably the cheapest part you can buy aside from the tubing in your entire loop... I paid 43$ I think for my Swiftech Quiet Power MCR320 ... and with 3x 120mm dialed down with a kama meter, I don't hear a thing, and my temps are only 2C higher than when I run them at full...
