You may remember some of my mods included a Sharp X68000 converted into a quad core liquid cooled gaming desktop:

My next project is a Sinclair QL:

The goal of this Mod is to make the Sinclair QL a media keyboard PC, meaning on-board LI-ION battery with 2-4hour usage, and HDMI output.

My first thought was to use the motherboard from a netbook, but even the smallest netbooks (7" EEE or Sony P series) won't fit, they are too large (they need to be no larger then 4"x6"x1.5").

Therefore I am forced to use a PICO-ITX board. The only platform which has the CPU/GPU power and HDMI output is the never-released Nvidia Ion Pico-ITX developer board. I have contacted the PR folks at NVIDIA to get my hands on one of these boards (even offered to purchase one) and they are unable to help.

Is there anyone here at HardOCP that might be able to assist me in aquiring one of these boards?

I don't know about getting a Pico ITX ION board but did you look at the motherbaord from the Asus EeePC 1008HA line? I just replaced the ram on one of those and the entire motherboard was only about the size of 3 SO-Dimm memory cards.

Yes just looking into it, the size would work! But lack of HDMI... Shoot, was so close.

Good luck with that. As someone who has recently taken an interest in Sinclair computers, this is really a great thing. I've always wanted to see just how bad the QL's keyboard was.

Remember, when the QL first came out, the operating system was sticking out the back of the system so if your motherboard sticks out of the system too, you are just upholding tradition! :)

Some 80s computers were so beautiful. Maybe mount that Tegra 2 underneath the keyboard with an SSD. Put the powersupply as a brick (like the original). Then find a creative use for the microdrives. Any ideas for what you want to do with the QL's microdrives? There's quite a bit of space there.

May have another solution for you..not big on power, but has HDMI and will do 1080P output.

Its the
EPIA-P720 Pico-ITX from VIA and sells for about $228 US
