And love my Z-5500s (Yeah, yeah, I can do better with a reference system built with x y z parts, and so on)....

I refuse to use a headset while gaming, unless the GF is trying to sleep or get work done.

However, with BF3 out, and my desire to communicate with my teammates, I was looking into getting one of these, since -in theory- it should cut out all of the ambient explosions, gunfire, and GF aggro from the mic channel. I'd set it up so the Z-5500s are the "default speakers" and the mic and headphone jack are default comms, and figure it out from there using Teamspeak/Ventrilo.

The question is, however, has anyone used them from this company, or know another company that supplies a similar item? $80 is a bit rich for my blood to find out that it doesn't work.

if its a true throat mic it will work. i presentably use a super cardioid usb mic (which also cost me about $80), but i dont have surround only 2ch.
