Hello,

As someone interested in UNIX administration, I was wondering how could I go about practicing what a network/sys admin do on a day-to-day business. I have messed around for a few months with virtual-box with a few PC's lying around, trying multiple kinds of Linux distros and using them as file, web, ftp, email servers, and what not and have them communicate with each other. Problem is, although I get practice in setting them up, there really is not a problem to troubleshoot something other else of what I did wrong, if that makes sense? I was thinking on getting more into bash scripting in order to automate basic functions or simply general know-how.

Sorry if this is a broad question or if maybe it belongs in the Virtualized Computing forum.

Thanks.

Tried a few around the area, nothing close to system or network admin.
