Simple Yet Hard Audio Question (Xbox 360 + Computer)

I am trying to hook up my computer (3.5mm) and my Xbox 360(RCA) to the same set of stereo speakers(3.5mm). Can I use a 3.5mm splitter and have both audio sources hooked up to the speakers at the same time or do I acutally have to use a composite switch?

When the Xbox is on the computer would be powered on but there wouldnt be any constant sound except for an occasional IM (which would be nice to hear). Another thing I noticed is that the computer motherboard (Abit IP-35E) has a Line In, would it be possible to set up some kind of a passthrough using the computer?

Thank you!!

You can use a splitter but an even simpler solution would be to plug in the Xbox360's audio in connection (assuming it terminates to a minijack) into the audio input of the computer (unless you turn off your computer while using the 360).

Would the audio input of the computer relay the sound without any problems? Is this something I would have to turn on somehow? Would I have to leave a program running?

OK i figured it out thank you all very much.

Does anyone know if this is gonna cause the audio to lag? I cant tell at first but I have just done it.
