how can i change volume from simple to primary. this is what i got here. i cant even install windows into those simple drives.

You can only go from basic to dynamic drive types per physical disk. You can't go from dynamic to back to basic. The only way to do that is by backing up the dynamic drives, delete them and recreate them as basic disks.

I'm sure that's how it was with windows 2000, and I don't think it's changed with xp / 2003.

Do ASR backups contain disk configuration information?
 
1. for all I know, one cannot revert from dynamic to basic.
2. images with large areas of a single color and few gradients -> use PNG or GIF, not JPEG, which makes text hard to read due to artifacting :)
