simple task that got me confused

I just bought a new dell computer: xps 200

and i got a 19" monitor...

when i tried to hook it up at the back of the computer there was 2 jacks that can go in to the monitor cord.

which one is better?
one at the top or the bottom...

iam thinking that the bottom ones the video card one.
 
The one at the bottom (not the one in along with the USB, Serial, and Network ports) is likely the only one that will work. The one at the top is probably from the card integrated to the motherboard and those are usually disabled when you plug in another video card.
