simple SATA question

just got a SATA controller card and a Seagate 120gb drive. it's all hooked up, installed, formatted through the RAID utility, and the windows device manager says it's there. but, it doesnt show up at all in my computer? am i jsut stupid? did i forget to read the memo or something?
 
'Start, Run, diskmgmt.msc', Initialise disk, format. You're good to go.
 
Its funny how the forgetting to format seems to be the most common problem. I was guilty too. :p
 
Yea this happens to me for a few seconds before i catch myself. I have 2 HD's, 1st one gets formatted and windows gets installed on it. My 2nd HD just holds my backup stuff.

Just a pet peeve, but I like to partition in the windows setup screen when you first install windows. The reason is, I like to have my HD's in letter order (C:, D:, E: ) and have my DVD/DVDRW (F:, G: ). If you dont create the partition before windows installs, then you get C: is first disc, then followed by D: -DVD-ROM, E: DVDRW and then it will lists your 2nd HD.

I know you can change it, but if you install windows then it will ask for the disc in whatever drive you installed it from. Like i said its just a pet peeve, but I like to stick to what works.

for 2k/xp, i've never had it ask me for the disk. i think all the cab files are on the hard drive(in i386?)

i've always had to copy the dir over (although i don't remember doing that on this install and the directory is on my hd).

hmm weird, i install IIS for windows pro and it asks for the disc.
