I have a koolance setup, but my question is, can I use simple tap water to refill, or will i require something else.

Tap water = BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD!

Imagine dirty tapwater (bacteria etc.... things you cant notice by taste and look along) living in a warm enviroment.

Bacteria + Warm water = SCUM in your loop.

Use distilled water available from a grocerey store near you. If you can't find distilled water, look harder. All major grocerey stores sell it in the bottled water isle in gallon jugs. Not expensive either :D

You should also be using some sort of algaecide or water additive mixed in the water in your loop. If you arent, you should. Koolance does supply some additive with the kit if I remember correctly....
