Simple contrast question

I have a 19" CRT and I was wondering if there was any reason not to have the contrast cranked up to 100%? With the brightness turned down and the contrast cranked up, that's the way the picture looks best to me. Is there any reason I shouldn't have it at 100%?
 
Color accuracy. The colors that look good to you are probably nothing like the source material. If you're not into graphics design or printing, it doesn't matter much, choose what looks good to you.
 
Well is there something I can use to make sure I have good color accuracy? I mean, what are the ideal settings? When I turn down the contrast it doesn't really seem to change the colors to me, it just kind of dulls the picture.
