Silverstone TJ05 blank LCD problem

My TJ05's LCD was working fine when I first got the case, however, I decided to place the temp probes so I could get a "semi" accurate temp reading, but after doing that, the LCD comes on (blue backlight) but it has nothing on the display, it's just blank, anyone have an idea on this?
 
Had the same problem on an Aspire Navigator case. Never could figure out how to fix it. If anyone knows, speak up. :p
 
The battery probably died. Same thing happened to my Silverstone Eudomon, replaced the battery and it worked again.
 
Well, tried a different battery off an old mobo, that didn't work out too well, same problem.

Anyone had luck with this?
 
A friend has the same case, and his LCD works without any battery at all.

I guess my LCD might have a busted wire somewhere, I'm gonna start unplugging stuff till I see results.
 
I had a similar problem with my aspire x-navigator case. At the end of my temp probe (at least mine) there were these little copper looking wires in this flat clear plastic part, it had gotten crimped and they were touching. Once I separated them it worked fine.
 
2 problems can cause this. Both are related to the ceramic thermister at the end of the leads.

If you crush the thermister, it'll read as -- -- (or possibly some other "error").
If you cut the thermistor off, or nick one of the wires, it'll read max all the time.

Both of these problems can cause what you are describing.

It doesn't display anything though, it's just blank, with blue back light. All I'd use the LCD for is temp reporting, wouldn't want it to control fans or anything.

I'm going to unplug the cables and see what it says.
 
Unplugged everything, only thing I didn't take out were the thermisters and the power cable.

The pins on one of them looked like they were touching, so I pulled off the tape and seperated them and slid the tape back on. Still no dice, same problem.

on the LCD board and on the battery board

Silverstone tech support... the cables looked pretty intact, but I'll triple check when I get back.
 
Good! That lcd is garbage anyways. I disconnected it after I saw how small and useless it was!
