Maybe you guys can shed some light on this issue.
I am running rather basic system:
mobo: Asus Maximus IV,
cpu: 2600K,
video: XFX HD7850
RAM: 16GB
HD: Samsung 840 PRO (256GB)

Nothing is overclocked, running two screens simultaneously (Dells 24" and 15"), but multitasking a lot...

With exception of my main HD (the 840 PRO), every other drive is connected and switched OFF at HD controller, the Lian Li BZ-H06.

Whenever I want to use my storage drive, 3.5" 2TB Seagate, the drive starts acting funny, switching off and on constantly. You would think that this is the drive issue, but I can connect the same drive via USB and read/write just fine!

Tried different ports and different cables already.

Do you guys think that my PSU is just too weak for this setup?

Thanks!

Things are crammed but that is what usually lives inside:

Hmm, didn't try that one, but maybe bypassing hd controller would show different results. Always worth trying...

Well, I am glad to report - I resolved it (partially) myself. So, the HD controller was the issue here. I am just not sure why... Oh well - bypassing it works!
