Silverstone Raven RV02 Release Date

Wow, that case is hideous. What happened to the beautiful brushed aluminum cases Silverstone used to be known for? When I went to replace my TJ03 with something modern, I looked to Silverstone for a flagship full tower. When I saw that their flagship tower was the Raven, a disgusting conglomeration of tacky plastic panels, I went to other vendors in search of a simple, elegant, classy aluminum chassis.

@SocceRich20

I think you're looking for the Fortress 2 (FT02) which should be coming September/October I believe.

I didn't have time to wait, I picked up a CM Stacker 830. Never thought I would be buying a Coolermaster over a Silverstone, but the bottom line is that Coolermaster had an elegant, refined, sophisticated full tower in brushed aluminum, and Silverstone had a hideous Transformers-wannabe plastic case on the market. Easy choice. My only requirements were:

1. Full Tower
2. Brushed aluminum
3. Door on front panel
4. Clean lines

This is a mid tower fyi...

Very well, but my opinion still stands that no silverstone case should have any plastic in it, let alone the entire outside shell. Silverstone cases have traditionally been high quality brushed aluminum, and now I'm seeing .8mm SEC steel and plastic...it's a shame.

+ 1 and Infinity

The ravens are well known to be steel cases.................

You guys are acting like they stopped making cases except for this single model.

OK...Lian Li has some hideous looking cases as well, but you can still buy a TJ07, 09 or 10. The Raven is not their new flagship case, it's one that's meant to help them capture a different part of the market.

meh... RV-02 is fugly. Just bought me an RV-01 for my Bday... amazing case so far.

I'm less concerned with how it looks and more with how it cools. We know what kind of quality to expect form silverstone so I can understand why people are upset about the use of plastic. I find the internal layout to be quite interesting and pending reviews this may case the new setup im building. Someone on youtube hit it on the head, they should have kept the aesthetics of the rv01. Damn thing looks like it'll transform and kill me in my sleep if it wanted. That's a good thing.

Raven 2 looks kinda blah, but I like the window on the right side since that would be visible under my desk. The thermal and acoustic properties look promising. Only question I have is where do all the cables go that plugin to the motherboard and power supply? Since those are all on the top of the case, how do you manage them so they don't hang over the side of the case?

It is a pretty ugly chassis. It looks like the front engine of a diesel freight train with armor plating. I hope the internals are good because the thing is way too long for my desk.

anywhere else have this case for sell thats not $100 to ship to kentucky? Im def interested in it.

Our US office just received their first shipment of RV02 so they will be available for purchase soon at more stores.

Tony, what;s the ETA on the GD04?

that thing is nice!

Don't want to go off topic too much here, but we are very excited about the upcoming GD04 as well! It should start shipping in September and be in stores in late September/early October.

Below is a shot of a preproduction case on top of an Onkyo receiver (this angle makes it look bigger though). You can see that it has very short depth, which is 322mm. The size in volume is a bit smaller than our Sugo SG01/02/03 cases (so the GD04 qualifies as a SFF case as well) but it'll still fit just about everything you could want in a Micro-ATX system.

For those curious, below is a shot of us test fitting a Black Ice GT Stealth 360 radiator in the RV02 with the longest consumer cards we had available (GTX 295, Radeon 4870X2, etc...). And yes, those little brackets holding the radiator are included in RV02's accessories box. The RV02 was designed to be a top air cooling case, but adding a nice touch like this should give users some options down the road.

RV02 now on sale at Newegg for $179 with shipping at $25 or less.

Are FT02's still shipping next month Tony?

Uh, the Ravens aren't Silverstone's flagship; TJ07 is marketed as that.

I like the look of the RV02, but ~$200 for a steel + plastic case, eh. Noty.

I've preordered mine this weekend. This was a tough choice between this and the Corsair Obsidian, but for my needs, the Raven 02 should be perfect.

I might be in the minority but I really like the aesthetics of the case (then again, I also got a Xeno network card, so my judgment should definitely be questioned ;) ). The cooling performances appear to be good, judging from the few reviews/previews I've seen.

In Canada, it's listed at NCIX, and they are price-matching Newegg. Ground shipping is around 25$.

I purchased the case on newegg friday with free shipping.. should be arriving tonight or tomorrow. I also think this case looks awesome.

They should be, but I wouldn't expect them to show up in North American stores before October.

Holy shit, those are all fucking ugly. I'll take my Antecs any day of the week.

Freezebyte, I was heart-broken to see your earlier post on the SG04. I fought hard to have our US office import the case earlier this year after seeing the forum posts here asking for it. Unfortunately I couldn't offer you any help as you were trying to solve the hard drive vibration problem (I have a SG03 myself and didn't have the same problem as you do), but I do hope that you can give SilverStone a second chance in the future. Thanks!
