Silverstone PSU ?

I recommend you include A LOT more information before you'll get any advice. Like what are you proposed system specs? What's your budgets? Etc. "Worthy buying" is very subjective and we don't know anything about the system you plan on powering with this thing.

Although not top of the line, the Silverstone Strider Plus ST85F-P 850W PSU is a good unit, with tight regulation and low ripple on it's outputs.

However. Whether it is suitable for your build depends on the power requirements of your proposed build. Providing further details of proposed components would help in determining the suitability of this particular PSU.

Love my Strider 1200G, very underrated PSU's IMO, right up there with Seasonic. What's great about most of Silverstone's modular power supplies is that they offer a short cable set for SFF cases, i.e...MATX, ITX. Those will usually set you back around $20 and make it way easier when routing cables so you don't have to hide excess wiring.

That being said, Corsair makes some great PSU's so I really don't think you could go wrong either way. I just prefer Silverstone as I'm a fan of their design philosophy and innovation.

I ordered the Silverstone. Going in a i5 rig.

Actually, most i5 rigs do not need anywhere close to 850W from the PSU. The trend these days is lower power consumption. Assuming that you already have a current-generation high-end GPU, you really don't need any more than a good 550W PSU.

i had a silver stone strider 750w and absolutely hated it.
i rmaed it twice for the same issue, a rattling fan. the new psu would be fine, but sure enough after a month or so the fan would start rattling.
i eventually just sold it and bought my corsair, which is excellent. will never buy anything from silverstone except for their cases again.

No, it is a different rig than my sig rig. Building computers is my hobby. Usually I'm building a new one every couple of months.

I put a Silverstone in a dual Xeon X5650 OC in 2010, and it has been zero problems.

It fit, was/is quiet, had plenty of leads, and is fairly efficient.

its an ok unit a bit dated by todays standards

you could have gotten a better unit for the same price or on of the best for $14 more
