Silicon Image 3112 Bug?

I have two SATA Raptor's (36g) hooked up to an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe, which uses the SI 3112 chipset-- however, programs like SpeedFan and ActiveSmart can only see the first raptor in the chain, and doesn't see the second one. It's like it doesn't exist. Cannot read the SMART info or get temperature/etc. information. Windows sees the drive fine, though, and it works correctly in that regard.

Is this a bug in the 3112 chipset or drivers? It's driving me crazy, because I'm convinced one of my Raptors is going bad (one of them clicks at least once a day, but Windows logs no disk errors.)
 
I have a similar problem. My motherboard has an onboard Silicon Image 3112A controller on it. I added an additional Adaptec controller that also uses the SIL 3112A controller as well. If the PC is booted cold then it usually does not see the drive that is on the PCI controller, just the onboard ones. If I turn the onboard off, power down and let it find the drive, then I seem to be able to turn the onboard controller back on and function normally. I wonder if it is because both controllers use the same chip or if it is something else. Once the controller's BIOS sees the drive everything works fine, but it really bothers me that I have to always fiddle with it when I do a cold boot.
