I have a VisionTek 9600XT video card, and the HSF on it is fairly small and very loud

I want to replace it with something larger and have either no fan or a very very quiet fan on it. I was thinking of just modding a old socket 7 type HSF with mounting holes and putting that on there with a silent fan, but don't know if the weight will be an issue, or the amount of power draw from the fan (hoping to just solder connectors so I can use the video card's fan power header)

I am hoping to do this for about $10, so if anybody knows the best way to cool this video card silently, that would be great

I would be volt modding the fans somehow to run them silently

I already have the last one, but I think it is too big/heavy to mount on a video card... what do you think?

Post links to products, reviews, anything

Thanks

Dan

I found a stock AMD HSF in my room, has a few scratches on the base

If I can't find anything else, I guess I can always lap the base of that, slap a quiet 60mm fan on it and use that...

Any other suggestions? Not going to overclock it at all, just want silence
