They are far from quiet. They quote 17dBA at 1300rpm, which is what the PSU runs at right when it is started up on a cold morning. Put any load on it, and the fan speed will ramp up. They also have the maximum fan speed quoted there, at 3000rpm. Just going with logic, that'll tell me the fan speed will be around 35dBA, which is considered very noisy for a "silent" power supply. They only decide to list the "quieter" fan of the two, the second fan spins at a minimum of 2400rpm. You do the math. ;)

Also, it only offers 18A on the +12V line, which points to the PSU being a very old-school ATX12V v1.2 spec, where output is biased towards the older +5V line (40A!). You want something with more amperage on the +12V line. If you want quiet, consider the Seaasonic S12 series. Newegg is down, otherwise I'd get you some links.

It's dead quiet as long as you use the included fan controller. It does get a bit loud without it. Also runs pretty cool (even in my SFF) and is very stable.

The TT PP series is an OK choice for mid range 90nm AMD systems w/ 8 pipe video cards. They are an at least slight step up above the garbage that comes with a case. As mentioned earlier, they definitely do not live up to the 'Silent' marketing unless you use the fan controller.

Also, their older design makes them monster PSUs for older PIII era systems where the CPU pulls on +5.

If you are overclocking, have a 12 pipe+ video card, lots of drives, etc you need to look at better PSUs. If you are really hardcore about silence, you need to look elsewhere. If you're on a budget, they will work, and work better than whatever generic garbage came with your case or you got for $20. My 2 cents.

I find the best way to make the TT Silent's truely silent is to replace the damn things. Don't let BossNoodleKaboodle find this thread or you are going to get an earful.
