Silent Pro M Started A Car?!

There's definitely something fishy going on there, since it takes much more than 29A to start a car, and there's no way that PSU would have been able to supply enough current without failing.

I believe the video. It is pretty cool that the car started.

Never gonna happen like that. I noticed the starter cable was still connected to the battery.

29 amps with 120v source

vs a normal 150 minimum amps or more usually required to start a car but at only 12 volts source

it's plausible also because a normally operating alternator will output anywhere from 0 to 130 amps depending on the battery charge and load demand

It's a +12V source. The power is coming from the PSU, not the wall (and I don't think a car would operate off of AC anyway).

the psu is plugged into a 120v source was my point although you are correct it is a 12v step down at the power supply...

notice the car also didnt seem to run very well at first, could be that the accessory belts were all removed to lessen the load on the starter

a vehicle alternator is nothing more than an AC generator with diodes to make it DC and a voltage regulator to step voltage down to 14 give or take

i say its plausible based off of the crappy batteries i test daily at work that still manage to start a car and the tiny jump start boxes that will give a car enough amperage to start off of a 12 volt battery

Actually, the PSU is running off a 240V source.

Regardless of how much you try and lessen the load, there is still no way that a PSU capable of outputting 34A could possibly start a car on its own. That kind of load would either kill the PSU outright or trip its OCP instantly.

well i am sure an EE in the house will soon chime in, i am pretty sure Cooler Master would not jeopardize their reputation by creating false claims, it would be financial suicide

i believe it to be probable

It's meant to be a viral video. It doesn't have to be true, it just has to catch peoples' attention (which it seems to have accomplished).
