Silencing a Shuttle PSU

Has anyone done any mods to cool down the PSU in their shuttle so that it stays quiet?

My SN21G5 is pretty quiet until the PSU heats up then its a bit loud. I'm thinking of trying to add another small fan to the PSU in hopes to keep it cooler and prevent the other PSU fans from throttling up too much.
 
try searching through silentpcreview. I recall people doing mods with external powerbricks.. basically replacing the PSU into something that looks like a laptop power block

I don't know how much internal space the SilenX PSU's have so adding another fan may or may not work well. You might consider ducting the power supplies intake vents to some fresh air (side vents?) and beefing up your internal case airflow with another replacement fan to replace the PSU fan you just ducted. Usually small PSU's are pretty crowded on the inside.

You might also consider going out and picking up the brick-based power supply that comes with the SD11G5. Don't know how expensive that's going to be though.
 
Replace the fan with something slower. I remember someone also squeezing a 60 or 70mm fan inside the case with mild cutting, but the dimensions have probably changed since then.
 
I was thinking of cutting some air holes into the psu and hoping the case fan would pull some of the hot air out of the psu but it looks like the PCB inside the power supply is on the same side as the case fan.
