I know this question might sound a little rediculius, but is there any way to make a 'loud' fan quieter. This particular fan is a chassis fan and I can spare some strength loss. Thanks.

quoted from pawstar:
A fan controller will give you a wider range of fan speeds, but you can do some wire splicing (with caution) to volt mod the fan: for 5v you just wire the fan to the 5v wire and gnd, for 7v you wire the fan between the 12v and 5v wire and for 12 volt you leave it as is

That will give you the desired sound lessening (<--- is that a word? )

u can buy a Zalman Fan controller at Newegg, controll ur fan speed my turning a wheel, just that easy. or try to buy a new fan, i have a zalman 7700-cu, very quiet, pretty cool, and comes with a fan controller which is pretty useless b/c at max speed its still quiet enough
