So i've been happy with my sonata for a while, but the 9700pro aiw i added is creating a noticable noise. I know watercooling is out of the question due to the placement of the TV tuner. has anyone found a way to quiet it down?

Thanks,

I do not believe that watercooling is ruled out by the TV tuner, generally those waterblocks take up less realestate than the stock cooler.

how about an arctic cooling vga silencer? I believe rev2 works on AIW cards

Highly doubt its much quiter (if any) than the stock cooler

Zalman's heatpipe heatsink setup.. works pretty nice.

Question, when you go to Display Properties-->Settings, does the computer list it as "Blah monitor on AIW 9700 'SERIES' or AIW 9700 PRO"?

now THAT would interfere with the tuner ;)

Don't own one, but even the people at SPCR say that at low speed, it is a pretty quiet cooler.

[edit]

which model do you think will work? what about obstruction of the tuner?

Thanks.

the Zalman ZM80A-HP clears the tuner, it can even passively cool the AIW 9700P (a slight breeze is helpful though)

zalman can also sell youa fan to mount onto that heatpipe cooler, but it's kinda expensive (~$20? just for the fan)

Alright, have you had personal experience using it on the AIW pro?

I think i'll go for it, i'm not gaming for a while so i just need passive cooling for 2d.
