• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

I see a few people who are apparently unaware signatures get autosized by browser window and thus could and SHOULD be written across a single or as few lines as possible to conserve useful thread space.

It's super obnoxious to scroll that much more for every post by every user who has to list their build or write a poem over 7 short lines of signature.

Take mine as an example of how to get your entire build + accessories all in one line (with room to spare at least on my desktop)

On narrower windows, it will automatically bunch into multiple lines.

Mods, could we get a little crackdown maybe on this - asking the offending users to shorten up their sigs? Thank you!

(22) No active links, graphics, code, profanity or advertising allowed in the SIGNATURE. Sig line is limited to 10 lines total as viewed @ 800 x 600 resolution or no more that 15 words per line.

Already a rule for this.

then the rule isnt being forced or isnt good enough because this is a problem i see in a lot of threads

at first glance, appear to be the latter case.

10 lines? who the hell needs to read about your build 10 times in the same thread and it takes up 8x as much space as the actual CONTENT you're posting?

Few reason I know why they have multiple lines allowed (10).
~Many people are in clubs, and enjoy listing them all.
~People have multiple PCs so they align it in those ten lines by CPU/GPU/etc., and makes it look nicer.
~Add both of those options from above and you need all the space.

The signature rules have been in place since 2001 and have served us well for all of those years. When we run across an offending signature, we contact the member and ask that it be changed to fit within the guidelines. We do not purposely search the forum for long signatures, we have 85,000 members and that just wouldn't fly. I would suggest you increase your monitor resolution if the signatures look too long on your screen.

lol

I run dual 2560x1600.

they're not too long

they're too tall

increasing the resolution does not affect too tall signatures (multiple lines). that's the problem. if they wrote them out on one or 2 lines, their length and height would be dependant on the users resolution.

at 2560x1600 i SHOULDNT be having this problem - so the fact that I am means its unreasonable.

for all the lack of avatars and graphical sigs, this supposedly streamlined foruming experience sure is marred by the giant onboxious sigs over and over and over.

its really confusing actually. forums with less strict rules about other things like avs have more control over sig heights. like 60 pixels or less, etc.

If you don't like sigs, turn them off via UserCP.

If you choose not to turn them off, then deal with it. 99.9% of users are within the rules so there is no need to bitch.

So either:

Turn off

or

Stop bitching

Trust me, it could be much, MUCH worse...

I recently edited mine to fit within the 800px w guideline.

We could have huge images that in themselves take up a quarter of the screen, plus text and links in every signature like some forums allow. That's just crazy. Hardforum's way is much better.

Kwitcherbitchin' and get over it.

Inversely, no one wants to spend an hour reading across either. Short, vertical information is much easier to skim.
