I just want to throw this piece of shit out the window and get a brand new one... :mad: Unfortunately, there is no money in my checking account to do such a thing....

But anyways, I plugged my printer into my USB port. When I did this my computer restarted instantly....However, right after it goes through the mem test and hdd test and right before it does the mouse initialization the system hangs...wtf? I can't even access the BIOS. It sounds like something shorted out when I plugged the USB cable in. I am hoping if I let it sit for like a half an hour and come back to it everything will work properly again....

Any suggestions...I am getting fed up with this computer....it just seems like it is always having problems.

edit: and it hangs even if I unplug the cable on both ends.
 
ok, it works now....but I have another problem. When I go into task manager it immediately closes in like a second...I have no chance to do anything. I've also noticed that this happens with msconfig too...two very important utilities...I have run NAV in safe mode with up to date virus definitions and it was able to find no threats....any suggestions to this problem? Hopefully it is not a hardware related problem...btw, this was happening prior to my printer/usb issue, so it wasn't caused by that.

Hopefully it is just a simple software fix that is a well known problem...

yup. I ran adaware and spybot and it found one thing running in memory and even after I restarted it fcould not be removed...but I looked it up and it doesn't cause any of the problems I listed
 
Run Windows update, also use AVG Antivirus...NAV sucks at detecting virus/trojans....I uninstalled NAV and installed AVG on friends computer, AVG found 13 viruses that NAV did not catch...
 
Can you even go into Regedit?

If not.. thats a pretty good sign you have some spyware/virus running that doesnt want you to stop it from starting up :)

A lot of them can be stopped by simply editing the Run section of your registry and deleting the entries.
