Sidewinder X6 Keyboard -- replacing the cord?

I have a Sidewinder X6 keyboard, and I think the cable has gone bad. When using the keyboard, it would cut off on me now and then and go unresponsive. I think the light would go off too.

Has anyone ever replaced the cable on one of these?

I think it's an OK keyboard. I like the illumination and the volume/brightness knobs (when they work), but the keys felt pretty squishy.
