So, I remembered reading an article on frostytech a while back about how a vented-frame fan was more efficient than a standard solid frame fan, and I was wondering if anyone had tried simply cutting some slits into a standard fan frame, if so, what were your results?

In the article it says the venting slits are in the form of an air foil, but I wonder how crucial that aspect is, or if just using my dremel to cut some slits around the fan housing would do the trick.
If this has been discussed before (and I expect it has) just go ahead and link the thread. I tried searching, but vented fan frame didn't turn up much worthwhile.
