Ok, ok... after countless hours doing research into the components and talking with several manufacturers and a whole dumpload of peeps... here is the shopping list for the sickest build I could come up with. I REALLY appreciate input as it has steered me away from a couple of what looked to be inferior products and towards better solutions all around. Again, if anyone has some input they would like to share I would greatly appreciate it.

i would keep the dual core instead of a fx-57

instead of the thermaltake fan, i would get an ultra speed panaflo and i would get a PC Power & Cooling instead of the Enermax
 
Add watercooling... then its real slick!

All-in-all, it looks pretty good. Id add another hard drive as a storage drive, atleast a 250. Id keep the raptors aswell. Also, id probably get a Zalman cooler for your CPU (or watercool it).
 
If you're seriously buying that system, then consider dropping some good money on a nice monitor as well.

Looks like money is no objection here, so might as well get a drop-dead beautiful widescreen to go with your machine of mass destruction. ;)
 
You're wasting a load of money for nothing.

Instead of two raptors, get one and then get a Diamondmax 10 300GB HD.

One 7800GTX is fine for now.

Ditch the X2 4800. There's no reason to spend 1K on a processor. Get the 4200 instead. It's about half the price, and only 200MHZ slower, and you can always overclock.
 
Substitute the Raptors for a Gigabyte i-RAM, or if you need to buy now, Fujitsu MAU3147NP plus an appropriate SCSI controller.
 
yea stick with 1 7800gtx for now....keep 1 raptor and get another larger storage hard drive...do u have a soundcard?
 
Why stick with 1 7800GTX now, if he is just going to go get another one later, if he has the money now then shit get it now IMO....and unless you do things that can actually benefit from having dual-cores then just get an FX-55/57....Get some diffrent HDD maybe keep one of the raptors then get a 200GB SATA II drive...IMO as well get one of the Antec TruePower 2.0

Because it's not necessary for any games right now, and as I said, it will be cheaper if he waits because ATI's next card is about to come out, which will push down prices.
