What does everyone think about this heatsink setup:
Si-120
AS 5 paste
Panflow medium output

It will be going on a DFI SLI-DR and a 3200 Venice

I was going to get the xp-90C, but the weight issue scared me away. Is the 90C really that much better than the si-120? I know it won’t matter right now w/ my Venice, but I plan on upgrading to an Opty 165 and want to make sure that whatever setup I have right now can handle TONS of heat.

BTW, is the artic silver MX much better than the AS 5? I know it doesn’t conduct electricity, but that isn’t much of a concern with the CPU (more of a worry for tricky installs such as a graphics card HS).

And how about that panflow? i know the sticky recommends something else, but panflow seems popular.

I dont think the 90c performs better then the SI 120 and i would definitely go with the SI 120 out of those two options. I would also go with Arctic Silver Ceramique instead of AS5 because its cheaper and provides the same or better results. Its easier to remove and isn't slightly capacitive. The Panaflo medium speed will be just fine. Panaflo is about the best as far as performance goes. If you want silent though then people go with like Nexus and Yate Loon.

I think they are very similar performance-wise but I would go with the SI-120 as a 120mm fan will be quieter than the 92mm on an xp-90c. I have an XP-90c (got it when the SI-120 was not available) and it cools pretty well. You dont really need to worry about the weight as it is very firmly attatched.

So is the Arctic Silver Ceramique easier to apply or something? i am not too worried about removal or anything. just how well it will cool.
