So I'm getting my PC at the end of February 2006, since prices for components tend to be the cheapest at that time of year. Also, I have a paper route (actually, 2) so I should have enough money to afford a decent system, and I should have enough money to go wireless by summer time. So I mapped out roughly how much I'd have to blow on a system by that time, and I came out to roughly $1600 after the 15% tax (GST & PST) our swine of a premier (I live in Greater Vancouver) charges us. So I *really* want to go Shuttle so I can just shove the whole works LCD and all into a sports bag and run over to my friend's house for some Battlefield 2. Oh, and there's this small space behind my desk where I can hide the damn thing from my mom who wants a new PC too. So anyways, here are the parts I'm thinking about:

OCZ DDR PC-3200 Premier 2.5-3-3-7 2x512MB
eVGA 7800GT
Intel Pentium 4 640 3.2GHz 2MB L2
Razer Diamondback Plasma LE

All the parts listed so far are lifted from www.anitec.ca except for the mouse and the keyboard and the Shuttle. I'm going Intel because of the DDR2 support and the uber-fast FSB (and the 640 was OCed to 4.36GHz on an ASUS P5WD2 Premium on PC Modder v2.1 where it proceded to kick the crap out of an OCed FX-55 running on an A8V-E, so I pretty much got sold on Intel there). It's also to annoy the heck out of my AMD-praising friends. Oh, and the Prescott will keep my feet nice and toasty during prolonged gaming sessions, and I'm waiting for those 65nm cores to come out, where it'll have better thermal management. I'm not kidding about the feet warming thing, my parents are cheap on heating. You probably noticed that I didn't list the Shuttle here, since I'm still undecided there. I can only afford the i915 based Shuttles at the moment until the prices drop, and the two are the SB83G5 and the SB81P. The SB81P appears to have a better overclocking potential because of its seperate thermal chamber, but it's got an obscene number of tiny fans in there. Trying to cool a Prescott. It's also slightly bigger than the SB83G5 too, but at least it supports double-width GPUs. So dear readers, what's the difference between the SB83G5 and the SB81P? Are there major performance differences between the two? And please don't recommend me an SN25P, because I really need the legacy PCI slot for a wireless card, and I honestly don't like the colour scheme of the front panel.
