Quick question, are small form factor computers a difficult thing to work with. Im considering getting a Shuttle XPC barebones kit, but i wasnt sure if the small form factor of it was going to make life a challenge. Also are the temp's in one real high, beings that there is limited room for coolant.

They're not bad. Things can get a little cramped. Temps are generally higher than normal desktops, but shuttle has a nice BIOS for adjusting the fan speeds based on CPU temp. It also helps keep the system noise low.

[shameless self pimpage] If you think it is a daunting task, you should just buy the SB65G2V3 I have FS in the FS section :) [/shameless self pimpage]

Shuttle get's hoter then standard PC. CPU stays cool but everything else get's hoter. There is few simple mods that can help.
P series Shuttle XPC dont heat up and are very very simple toolless design.
G series are also easy t obuild. I can build 3 Shuttle XPC's for time I need to build proper single mid tower PC.

Only Shuttle is like Heroine. Once on it and You will allways want to have one.

But i dont like heroine. I'll look into it, but first i have to set-up my home network so i can have the shuttle on the internet to own some n00bs on CS.

I have SN95G5 and 3000+ Winchester. Next to it 6800GT and it rocks. I love CS CZ :)

What model number? Most likely it will if you just bought it new. All of the newer BIOSes support winchesters.

Why not? My FX 55 runs fine with the OCZ 2-2-2 Ram ;)

It should work fine. Just don't expect the Corsair RAM to run at those timings on an AMD platform.

If you look at Corsair's web site, many of their 2-2-2 chips say they will only work at these speeds on intel platform.

Corsair 2-2-2 RAM uses Samsung TCCD chips just like all other 2-2-2 RAM on the market right now, why would they be any different? I dont think there should be a problem, people run Samsung TCCD at 2-2-2 all the time in AMD platforms.

EDIT : Not to mention corsairs website has no warning against 2-2-2-5 memory not running properly in AMD platforms. They do however mention for their 2-3-3-6 memory that it runs at 2-3-3-6 in Intel and 2.5-3-3-6 in AMD, however that memory does not use TCCD chips.

Yess it works with Winchester strate out of box. Be shure it's version 2,x mobo.
I have same one with 3000+ Winchaster.

OK, just don't be surprised if the timings aren't as tight as you'd expect. Jasonx82, post back on your results as I'd really like to know.

Well sorry to all you small form factor lovers, but i decided to go standard atx. Sorry

DOnt know what you're missin' :p

...you'll be back. ;)

If You doo not try it You will never know :)

Freemason115 what are Your memory scores in Sandra?

I have a War situation with Corsair memory and Shuttle :(
One thing is for shure Corsair makes some good sticks of memory.
Second also sure thing is that their SPD programing sucks when their modules are used in 939 socket mobos. Atleast all non TCCD moduls report much higher timings then they are .
Like I have had 2 x XMS3500LL C2 256 MB. They doo in PIV 280 MHz FSB on stock voltage. Now in Shuttle with nForce 3 250 Ultra chipset (SN95G5) it reports 2,5-3-3-8!??
Then yesterday I've took XMS TWINX CMX3200 C2 2x 512 MB and they report 3-3-3-8. Manulay set they doo 2-3-3-5 but work faster on 2-3-3-6!??
My 3500 modules on 3200 in PIV and XP platform doo 2-2-2-5-1 and on nforce 2-3-3-6. Also it only mehters on how much MHz You use them and is it 1T or 2T and cass makes almost no difference?
Also with Corsair modules when I set 1T igett more preformance but programs read still 2T !??
With Geil Dragon it reports cass 2 and 1T as it supose to doo but memory scores stay very simular to any other ram I've tryed with same speed.
With DDR 400 I max out at 5360 MB/s.
Also to OC with any of those modules I've tryed I need to use memory divider and then memory scores suffer even further cause still memory needs to have loose timings to be able to OC at all.

When I got My RAM (TWINX) I was told I can bring it back. Now I don't know what to doo. If I give back TWINX 2x 512 MB C2 and Value Select 2x256 MB ( htat I also have form one of my rigs) I could get CMX3200XL 2-2-2-5 TCCD 2x512 MB. Though I doo not know how doo they work and what scores they make and doo they OC with memory at 1:1?
Freemason115 I need some info please :)
You sad no V mod or so but does TCCD modul say on auto (SPD) 2-2-2-5?
How much MB/s are You getting in Sandra? I mean on stock DDR400 and 2-2-2-5 1T.
Can You overclock without lowering memory divider to 5/6?

Thanks

Well i opted to not go small form factor because i want to have some serious coolant, running 3 huge 80mm case fans. I will go small form factor for another project.

Will let you guys know. I was thinking of going Shuttle Myself but its so tiny... I like my ATC 110, if my ATC110 falls apart, Then Shuttle Here I come! :D
