I have a Shuttle XPC SD36G5M SFF system that I just got, I installed a Pentium D 920 CPU in there along with 2G PQI DDR2 677 RAM and a Maxtor SATAII 3G/S HD.
I've done some research on the Web that shows the D920 can be stablely overclocked to 3.6G with Intel stock HSF. The auto CPU voltage is 1.23V, and FSB at 200Mhz. I can increase that to 233Mhz (3.2G) and turn on the machine, going into BIOS, but I cannot proceed into OS installation. If I go any higher the machine won't even boot, no matter what voltage level it's at (I've tried 1.23V all the way to 1.35V).
In order to be able to install the OS I have to return the FSB to the default 200Mhz (2.8G).
I don't think it's a heat issue because I had the fan at high setting and temp was below 65' all the way.
I'm wondering if there are any OC restrictions on this XPC's mobo.
