If I bought a Shuttle SV25 unit, tossed the motherboard, could I install a more up to date motherboard? I mean, are the dimensions going to be the same as with other FLEX ATX mobos?

Thanks

The only boards that can be made to fit are mini-ITX. The board in the SV25 is 17cmx19cm, so you'd have to stay around that general size. There are P4 boards that size and smaller, but they're not really common.

Oh, if you do get one, don't throw the board away, I'd love to get my hands on another one.

Thanks widefualt! By any chance, do you know where I can locate one of the boards you are talking about. I have been searching high and low and can't find anything.

I am not ACTUALLY buying a brand new unit. A friend of mine bought one and he took the mobo out and is selling the chassis. He is going to sell the chassis to me for $40 and I wanted to see if I could locate a motherboard that would fit in it that would be more up to date than the one he took out.

Thanks bud,

Josh

try contacting shuttle about having getting a replacement motherboard.

It'd still probably be cheaper than just buying a whole new unit.

the point here is to get a newer and more up to date mobo if at all possible

I've had an SV25, it's not going to be easy to get another board to fit. First thing you'd need to do is cut open the back so an ATX I/O backplate can fit. The SV25 comes setup for the FV24/25 motherboards I/O, which doesn't match any other board I've seen.

Commell is the company making mini-ITX Pentium 4 and even Pentium-M boards. NOT cheap, though. Believe the P4 board is around $150, and that's for something with only one PCI slot and integrated graphics.

Okay guys, I understand. Hrm.....I guess I should see about that F24/F25 mobo huh? ANy ideas on how much it will cost or where to get it?

Thanks
