cmosdos said:get a bucket thats big enough to hold the thing... and then pour rubbing alcohol into it until the thing is completely submerged. cheap stuff... like 25 cents a bottle.
soak it in there for an hour or so, and then take it out and let it dry for a day or two in a well ventilated area.
rubbing alcohol will evaporate VERY quickly and it does not conduct electricity so it will not ruin any parts.
It didnt hurt anything. Just make sure its unplugged, power supply unhooked (I also taped his up). I cleaned everything first with canned air, then sprayed it lightly with Febreze "Antimicrobial" and let it sit for a few hours. No more stinky reefer smell!EnderW said:what about the components?

There's "rubbing" alcohol, and there's real isopropyal alcohol. You do NOT want to use rubbing alcohol unless it's life or death. Rubbing alcohol typically has water and fragrance in it (read the label). Not good at all for electronic use.
You can get small cans of very pure Iso in the paint section of places like Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. It's cheap, and very much worth it.
Good luck - B.B.S.
