ok, to start off with i already had XP SP3 on this machine and something really screwy was going on with the USB ports...unrecognized devices, just horrible....and i really want to use Vista anyways because of the great Media Center plug and play abilities among other reasons

so now i have Vista 32 Ult on it and i STILL am having the USB problems, external hdd that will work one time and not the next, USB thumb stick that does the same thing....

now on top of that i cant find Vista drivers for the ATI9100IGP chipset with RS300 graphics integrated....i have seen much older hardware run on Vista....cant figure out why this is such a fuss

so i figure someone here has successfully found drivers that work....or a solution of some sort

help

Does this problem happen with all USB ports, or just some? I'd suspect a faulty connection.

i got it working finally, i updated it to Vista SP1 and suddenly everything started working, the only thing left not working was the onboard RS300 video driver, but i went in and told it to use the Mobility Radeon 9000 driver and it works fine now..

well...they were there with XP SP3, and with Vista 32Ult pre-SP1 for me...same exact message...USB device not recognized, and then after the SP1 install with updated Vista drivers and all....everything is suddenly stable
