I am thinking of putting together the following:
Shuttle SN95G5V3
AMD Athlon 3200
Crucial PC3200 DDR 1024MB CL3 Kit (2 x 512MB)
Hitachi Deskstar 160GB IDE ATA133 (Or I might I might use a Samsung Spinpoint if available.)
Hitachi Deskstar 250GB SATA (Or Samsung again)
NEC DVD +-R/RW DL
Sapphire Technology Radeon 9250 256 MB AGP
M-Audio Delta 1010 PCI Sound card.
I am opting for an IDE system drive as there will no room for a floppy drive and I want to keep things simple.
As the SN95G5V3 has 2 IDE headers I was going to put the 160GB IDE hard drive on one IDE header as the system disc, and the NEC DVD drive on the other IDE header. (Is there a specific IDE header you should use for the system disc?)
Then I would add the 250GB SATA drive using one of the SATA headers.
The finished computer will be running Adobe Audition mainly, this is a sound recording/editing package, using the 250GB SATA drive for audio file storage and cache drive.
It is not intended to use this set-up for video work or gaming.
What do you think?
