I was interested in maxxing out my Shuttle SN41G2 non V2. What is the fastest CPU it will handle? I was told the XP3000. So could I get an XP3000 mobile and overclock it since it is a 266 bus or should I get a xp3000 and not overclock it? I have a Radeon 9800 in there now and PC2100 Ram. I know I need a ram upgrade. I was going to order new ram and a cpu and a cheap mobo and put my old parts and rebuild my server. Thanks for any suggestions.

Those are the 2 chips in reference. Any other suggestions?

i have this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103440

i can get it up to 2.55 ghz in my v2...

you could get one of these too:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103436

the prices on all of those have gone up since they were new.,.. it is so discouraging..

but any one of those 3 chips should hit 2.2 ghz at least, if not more.. get a mobile for the unlocked multi if for no other reason. . the low voltage is just icing on the cake.. and so is the huge cost savings...

edit.. also find some ram that runs well on stock voltage.. casue i can't even get stock timings out of my bh-5 since my mobo undrvolts the ram and it likes more vdimm.. i did test it in my mom's computer which volts the ram more and it was fine..

technically the fastest it can handle is 333fsb.. but it can go to 400fsb.. especially with a video card.. i had mine at 210 on the igp with no problems.. but then got a vid card cause i was nervous.. i also ran it as high as 225.... so that 166fsb limitation is only technical.. mostly because of the igp..

get any of those i listed.. and you should be able to do 200 x 12 or so fine... but i can't guaruntee and overclock of course.. the smaller psu might make a difference too.. i really don't know..

Would those others work, that I mentioned? I dunno how good mine will OC. Since its a V1 and only a 333 bus and the older power supply.

i was editing my first one when oyu made that..

umm.. mine is 333 too..

i have the newever psu.. and i think that is about the only difference.. unless you got lucky and can change your vdimm without killing yours..

i have the 2200+ 35w.. it works great.. never a problem.. any of those 3 should work fine.. since your ram is pc 2100.. you could do 133 x 16 or something until you get new memory.. and then change it to 200 x 11.. ish. . for example....

i would get either of the 2 you listed.. they are 1.65v stock.. i run my at 1.475v .. and 2ghz.. which is as fast as those 2 with less voltage.. so it wouldn't put more strain on your computer to oc those.. you can actually use less voltage.

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to get the XP3000 mobile and Corsair Value select PC3200 for $79

why do you want the xp3000 mobile? it costs almost twice as much as the other ones i listed.. at least it has an unlocked multi.. maybe it will go up to 2.8ghz though.. hmm.. i would still suggest a 35w. 2200 or 2400...
