So my sis needs a new PC, and space is of the utmost importance, as living in the city rent=$$$ and space is limited. So i started looking around at the shuttle line and the small factor dell PCs and i think that shuttle makes a better overall product
So which one should i get out of the whole bunch? I will probably be upgrading it soon anyway (diff. cpu/ram/whatever) but she needs something solid right now
Mostly it will be used for regular internet/office applications use, but also for medical applications and her better half wants to be able to play some games atleast ;P

Appreciate the input. thanks

sb61g2 or sb65g2 w/ a 2.8c, 80gb hdd, DVD/cDRW combo, a decent amount of RAM & a 9600 will serve all your needs

Shuttle SK43G is probably you best bet it will be able to use any 200/266/333 processor. it's also got 4x/8x AGP so youb can stick in a 9600 pro for the BF

AS for which processor well that's completely upto the nature of the programs being run, i don't know any medial applications so i can't comment on that but a 2700/2800 would be good enough if you can stretch to it a 3000 would be the highest 333 proc you could fit.

I'm going to say a SN41G2(B)...

Cheaper than the Intel stuff. Good onboard sound (soundstorm). Half-decent onboard vid card with AGP for possible expandability if required. There's 2 colours so you have a choice of appearance. Not too much on the OCing capabilities. It can do up to 200FSB (I think) so if you want to get a barton 2500 and push it to 3200 you can.

Should consider a Biostar iDEQ

Its cheaper than shuttle, better looking, performance is the same, and it has socket A and sata (no shuttle does)

SK43G does have SATA so does SN85G4(though that's more pricey) and the newer Intel offerings

The iDEQ isn't necessarily better looking. I prefer Shuttles, they just feel classier... I suppose its personal preference. Also, there are a lot more accessories to personalize your shuttle than the iDEQ.

Performance is about the same. I've heard that the AMD iDEQ has problems with 9600XT, if you aren't going to get that vid card then no worries.

Biostar iDEQ's are cheaper than Shuttles. Build quality on both is great.

Weigh factors and decide for yourself, after all, it isn't our money.

would any of the shuttles run any games normally without a new VC? like CoD or MOH/AA/Breakthrough type stuff?

appreciate the input though, as you see there are many of them and people seem to have differing opinions, which is why i asked in the 1st place ;p

I think the only one that stands a chance is the ATI model but they are more expensive.

The ATi chipset ones with the 9100IGP might be able to run some new games at lower resolutions. If you want to play new games at higher resolutions, you'll probably need a separate card.

Also, is money a factor in buying this machine? After re-reading the post, you didn't really say if it was or not.

What I meant was that there is no "socket A + sata" combo offered by shuttle.

For some reason I cant find the SK43G on the shuttle site. Though I did google and find it.

I stand corrected.

SN85G4 is Socket 754 and while I havent been keeping up to date I dont think its the same as Socket A.

agreed , we definetly need more details, ive assumed it was a relatively low end small machine.

sorry... money is not a REALLY big factor, but it is to an extent, obviously.

i was shooting for a sub-grand machine, with ~$350 going towards a 17" lcd
