Shuttle non-responsive

Ok, my SN45Gv2 won't start up anymore. It's definitely the motherboard, I've tested everything else and it all works. For over a year, I had a 2500xp-m running at 8x200@1.25v. The mobo battery is dead so everytime the system gets unplugged, I need to reset all the settings. Not really a big deal.

I recently had to do just this, but when I rebooted nothing came on screen. Reboot again, still nothing. I figured it was just one setting that it didn't like, so I clear the cmos (both with the jumper, and unplugging the system). Still nothing.

When the system is off, but plugged in, the mobo led is on. When I press the power button, the front blue led comes on for a second, then they both turn off; but the system is still running; the fans are on, the hard drive is spinning but not reading, I can open and close the cd tray, but nothing on screen.

The cpu, ram, hd and video card all work in another system. It can only be one thing. And I've spoken to someone else with a very similar problem and he could only rma the board.

I doubt I will be able to now that it's 2+ years old. Would anyone with some experience with this have any advice or ideas?

I have no good advice for you but I'd be happy to buy that dead board from ya for use in my custom cases as a template. PM me if you want to sell it :D
 
Well I hope it doesn't have to come to that, but I'll keep it in mind.

Has something similar happened to anyone else?
Do you think Shuttle might exchange it?
 
You could try plugging in a ATX PSU to make sure. Beyond that, it sounds like the Shuttle is toast and your well beyond the RMA time frame from Shuttle warranty
 
If it's powering up, it's not the power supply guys.

It could be the CPU too, but from the way it happened, it sounds like the board was static fried when you had to reset the CMOS. I think you figured that one out... Contact Shuttle and see if you can at least pay for a replacement board. That's your best option. Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll be cool enough to ship you one free. If it's a few years old, it's nearing EOL anyway.
 
Well I know it is the board, since everything else has been tested and works fine. But for it to, out of the blue, just get up and jump out the window; and having spoken to someone else who had the same thing happen, it's a little frustrating.

Anyway, I guess I'll get ahold of shuttle.
 
My boss had the same problem with his. His sn85 was working but then it stop working now when the power button is pressed it just light up for a sec and won't turn on. I tested on his 2nd sn85 shuttle all the parts and concluded it was the main board .

At the place where I work the sn85 seem to work fine at his house it doesn't work. I also had a asus k8s-mx board that worked at the lab, but didn't work at the client's house.

I concluded it is a problem with the power regulators on the main board maybe giving out of spec voltage. I wonder if a apc back up unit can help regulate the on board power regulators. Otherwise I hope that shuttle will replace it.
