Shutting Down Core

What is the proper way to shut down F@H. I use ctrl+C, but when I restart, it says core was improperly shut down. Is there another way I am supposed to quit the program?
 
You did it the right way, ctrl+C is the proper way to shut down the client.
 
Pressing Ctrl+C or clicking the X in the command prompt window both accomplish the same thing. There's no "safer" way of shutting down the client.
