I have a netgear MR814 version 1.

I want to simply use the NAT for the router and DO NOT want the wireless feature, how do I turn it off?

The manual? Just a guess. If the manual doesn't say you can do it, and you don't see it on any of the config pages there is probably no way to turn off the radio. Seems logical yes? If that is the case then lower the radio power if you can (again manual or visual inspection) and/or remove the antenna.

You can do this by logging into your router, and looking for an option to do so. I have a netgear wgr614v5 myself and remember seeing the option in there somewhere

wow, you guys must take me for an idoit.
I already looked in the online PDF, aswell as spending about 15 minutes looking through all the options on the router. It was for work to setup this quick little thing.. and other than upgradeing the firmware (which I doubt would enable the option) I see no other way on this model to turn it off.

The only USEFULL thing either of you said was to remove the antenna, which I already thought of. Thanks.

Do you allways treat people whom are trying to help this way? Just curious :(

Another option is to try the Wireless card access list which is under wireless settings. There you can turn access control on which will only allow wireless cards to access that are in the list. That option IS in your router as i see it in the manual. Less that it wouldn't hurt to upgrade the firmware (might want to disconnect the other computers other then the one logged into the router to prevent some traffic from interfering with the upgrade) that might enable the other option that i've listed above.

look, we needed a router in our computer storage room that would do NAT so our subnet would quit running out of IP's. Croporate will not allow rouge wireless networks inside the offices, regardless of if its secure or not.

now then, since I can't actually shut off the wireless we will have to find some other junk router to do the NAT for us.

I looked through the manual for this router, and it doesn't say anywhere you can turn off Wireless. So your best bet might be to make up a wierd SSID, lock it down so only approved MAC addresses can access it, and take the antenna off.

At least according to the documentation on Netgear's site that is about all you can do.

Why did you buy a wireless router then

I see the option now to take would be to acquire a wired router then.

buy?

hahaha, no. this was a piece of shit I brought from home that I found in a box in my closet.
