Sick and tired of my 60 pound Antec 1000 "Blue Fantasy" I decided to give aluminum cases another shot. My first one was the Lian Li PC68 nearly 2 years ago. I liked how light and sturdy it was, but the roomyness of the Antec cases drove me back.

But now the weight of such a case fully loaded makes it an absolute bitch to move even downstairs for weekend LAN parties. I ruled out Shuttle cases as I simply don't like the fact that I have to replace the entire computer each time I upgrade for more then twice the price and the fact thats its just beyond small for my tastes.

After spending two months deliberating, looking, reseaching like I always do for my computer parts, I decided the coolermaster wavemaster would give me almost everything I needed sans the front USB ports and a filter. I plan on immediatly drilling or removing the lame ass grill in front to allow more airflow to my panflo' fans as well as a variety of other things.

I'd just like to see some other peoples currently modded wavemaster cases to get an idea of what people are doing with them.

Question, how much clearance is there between the door the drive bays? I have a baybus with switches so im wondering about the gap.

I know you don't like Shuttles. But for a cool alternative to a shuttle would be these: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-190-017&catalog=7&depa=1

The one I have my Barton in is this: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-190-003&catalog=7&depa=1

Very small footprint, very light. Very cool looking. They use a good mix of metal & plastic + lights to give some cool looks. Plus, it uses the Micro-ATX form-factor, so you don't have to worry about not being able to upgrade in the future. The nice looking onces are made by ATHENATECH INC. So for those looking for a cheap alternative for a Home-Theatre PC, this is it. It can easily fit with the HT systems. But you don't need to pay the $200 for the cases that match the system exactly.

Mine holds a complete mobo, psu, graphics card, DVDrom, floppy, and 2x harddrives .. plus PCI devices. I have it at work, but it can easily be used for Lan party's. The only thing I'd need to swap out with my other PC is the 3dcard. Any lan parties I plan on attending are across the nation, so I needed something compact enough to get it on to a plane :)

It's designed to be upright or sideways. Plus, the 200w powersupply is more powerful on the rails than my 300w Codegan I used to have. And it's 1/2 the size :)

Shuttles are cute, don't get me wrong, but I simply just determined that they arn't in accordance to my needs and desires that I have in a computer case.

Plus, the Wavemaster is kinda already ordered, so a bit to late to change my mind now:D

Wow, no coolermaster love in these forums.

heh, I don't have any mods, but they're quite nice cases, although, friends of mine (I use them as the case in my gaming machines for my company) have referred to the cases as looking like "refridgerators" ... lol ... maybe they look sorta like those retro fridges...eh oh well

I'll have to take one of em sumtime and play around with it...

I would like a few pics too....

Mine is in the mail as well, as soon as I get it, she's getting shipped to a powder coater for a red and white paint job....

I will do a work log later on.

My Wavemaster has sat there untouched for the past two weeks, thanks to lack of proc. When I get around to it though, I'm gonna replace the three fans, drill some bigger intake holes for the front, and take it off from there. And that I/O cluster is gonna be replaced by another fan.

But yeah, I need some pics for ideas too. So bumpity bump.

hmm... wavemaster, eh?
Well, if you ordered one this is going to make you want to send it back, and if you are thinking about it this will make you change your mind... :p

Behold, The COMPAQ! WAVEMASTER!

I'm just waiting for someone to walk up to my friend with a wavemaster and say, "Oh, is that one of those new Compaq's?"

Ahh, my eyes! Make it stop, make it stop.

Yeah I know all about the compaq wavermaster thing. Ah well, I love the case, got it for a good price too at Microcenter.

@slimjim, 6 tornado fans? God, that must be so loud.

well the wavemaster sure looks nice, I almost got me one but then decided to go for a Recom Stealth =)

one question though, you said u wanted to get rid of the grills in front of ur fans.... however I can't find no grills on the front =S

We're talking about the piece of metal on the front of the computer. It covers over these small intake holes, and inside the front panel of the case are 2 80mm intake fans. The problem with this is that the two fans are drawing air from a small intake space, and also could just be recirculating dead air.

You might be thinking of chieftec which makes Antecs cases and Thermaltakes, but coolermaster makes their own cases.

ok ATCS split off to form another company, therefore Coolermaster had to rename all of their cases to new model names (used to be ATC 2xxx etc). ATC does make some, if not all of Coolermaster's cases, but most view it as CM since the company just split off.
