that brown dust seems like its still moist. lmao.

and i thought i had a dusty case. (2 years and still no cleaning) but dam man. dats alot
 
i wonder if he puts his smokes next 2 the fans lmao.

doesnt it look like dirt to you? its so moist and dark.
 
I pulled apart a PS2 today that looked like that Case insde. Forgot to get Pic's (stupid me :rolleyes: ) The disc came out with a fine layer of dust on it form about 1hours use.

id like to get some of the customers pix up here....i jsut want to smack them its so bad sometimes

He must of found some dirt in the yard and put it in his crappy old computer.
 
Both of those were customers' computers. Neither one was staged in any way.

Both customers complained of frequent random lockups. Funny thing is, both systems still ran, and both fans still worked as expected. They werenoisy as hell, but the ran at full speed!

I'd take a pic of my own system, but you guys would just laugh at me. It's the red acrylic one that's been posted in many posts around here. Right now there is so much dust in it that you can barely make out the faint glow of the 4 red CCFLs.
 
Lol, that's an advantage of having cats - last time i opened up this shitey dell i could just pull the dust and crap out in handfuls cos their hairs bound it all together, heh. Thinking about it, it's prolly about time i opened it up again and had a tinker, might be why it's performing even worse than the utterly, utterly shit it normaly runs at

Cat hair is amaing stuff, isn't it? When my optical trackball stops being smooth, flip it over, remove the ball, and sure enough, there'll be cat hair inside the trackball. :p
 
Wish I had pictures of the one I saw years and years ago (1992ish). You could not see any of the components at all.. You could see shapes under the dust. Minimum 1/2" up to 1" across everything. I could not belive it was even running. This was in the days of passive heat sinks (No fan). I can still see the image in my mind.
 
I have some pics of a clients computer that was pretty filthy inside... it's on another system and I'll try to find them shortly.

However the most disgusting system I've ever personally seen was from years ago. Was around '93 or so. Client was a strawberry farm (IIRC) in Castroville, CA; particular system was in an equipment warehouse. Like the system moetop describes you could hardly see anything. But what you could see, down there are the bottom of the case by the ISA slots, was a DEAD MOUSE. He wasn't one of those teeny-tiny buggers either and for the life of me I'm still not sure how the hell it got in there. Back then we didn't have tons of personal devices on you that could take pictures; but man it was really something to see. *ICK!*

Hmm I kinda of wonder how my old 66mhz pentium system is doing.. prolly covered in dust.. It's NEVER been cleaned.

nevermind. I just opened it.. no dust at all. The wiring job in that thing was horrifying though.That and there were about 20 sticks of ram, a hard drive the size of my face (~5 times the size of a 3.5 inch drive) It was soo clean though, kind of weird. The only fan in there was on the power supply though.
 
I wish I had saved the photos, but I remember working at the best buy tech counter in Little Rock, Arkansas. Almost every week, a computer than had been on a farm would be brought in, covered in a sickning coat of dirt, and pollen.

Most often, the complaints were "This thing h'er is busted. Can y'all fix it?"

Thank god I moved back to Georgia.
(for those who dont know, the tractors around a farm kick up huge clouds of dust that you can see for a mile sometimes)

Used to be in England, worked the MH-53M. Now I'm out in Tucson working The HH-60G.
 
wow have people heard of air dusters. they are cheap, work well, and are in stores near you!
 
Cigarette smoke is always the worst, the smell of it would just totally overpower the entire room whenever I used to work on home PCs on a more perminant basis. It just totally clogs everything and makes all of the components a piss yellow color.

Its amazing how much better a computer can run once you wipe it clean of all the Viruses, 50 background processes, corrupted disk files and everything else that you amass on a daily use basis.

My old computer was at a point that just to use it I had to play the "how fast can you Close the fucking pop ups" game.
 
I do work on PCs for a living... I see machines like that at least once a week. I'm allergic as hell to the dust too.

And the smoker's systems are the worst. After working on them we have to spray air fresheners.
 
On the side, I build 486 computers for dairies (that is the only platform the software supports) for use with their 'black boxes' - devices which record every aspect of each cow present.

Anyways, one of the computers that I built about 6 years ago was brought in because the owner said it stopped working and would not turn on. I set it up on the bench, took off the cover, got grossed-out royally, put the cover back on, threw it out in the computer recycling bin and built him a new one. Inside the old system was about 3/4 inch of dust, cockroaches, ants, and spider webs.
