I have a similiar problem if I try to force AA/AF in BF42. I just leave it at middle settings. If I try 2x/8x or higher, text gets fuzzy. I thought it was because of the limited resolution of my monitor though.

i believe anisotropic filtering causes that to happen, although it might be anti-aliasing.

It's the anti-aliasing that does it. Only way to get rid of it is to turn AA off.

'smoothvision' in your video card setup... turn it down or off...

And i dunno why, but i was expecting to see something different :(

lol

Same text issue here. I also have some kind of scanlines in the main menu too. Gonna try out those settings.

Yup, its the AA doing that, but theres a way fixing it without turning AA off.
In the driver settings enable "Alternate pixel center", that fixed it for me in some other game (a mmorpg).

OR

it looks like that cause your playing on a low resolution, looks like 640x480 to me, or 800x600

Give us a screen shot of your d3d settings.

for those who do not know what thisis, or, how to get there...

right click on desktop, click last tab on right(settings), then, click advanced, for ait users, there is a tabe for opengl and one for d3d, bf is a d3d game, so you adjust the d3d sliders. I usally play with 4x aa/af at 1600x1200.

Should be working just fine, try mindbuster's suggestion.

turn off custom display settings for D3D and opengl, and make sure both sliders are set at the middle

I mean look at my start button its pretty choppy

That's choppy because you don't have windows font smoothing turned on.

Right click on desktop->Properties->Appearance->Effects

Then check the box next to "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts" and select a method from the pull-down box.

This happened to me and all I did was change the refresh rate of my LCD to 60 HZ. Look for it in your settings under "Display"

It's just that what you see on your LCD wouldnt show up on a screenshot :D
